The forces behind Let’s Brezel are mother and daughter duo Claudia & Gala. Claudia, who hails from Germany, came to New Zealand in the early eighties and has called Aotearoa her home ever since. After being made redundant in 2015, Claudia decided to head back to her native Germany to visit family & friends and take time to re-evaluate life. Whilst in Germany, it struck her, that one of the first things she religiously did on arriving in her old hometown, was to buy a brezel from one of the many vendors dotted around the city.  There simply was nothing better than the smell & taste of a freshly baked, warm brezel.  And although brezel could now be found in Auckland & throughout New Zealand, under scrutiny, they simply did not hold up to their traditional German counterparts. Claudia had always been fascinated by the stories of food truck owners and what had propelled people to take that leap from a more conventional - in her case desk job - to a life working in a mobile food truck.  So, after numerous visits to bakeries & 'behind the scenes' experiences, the idea was born and the stakes set high - to be NZ's first mobile brezel bakery offering the best tasting, authentic German brezel in Aotearoa.

Fast forward to January 2017 and after months of research & sample baking,  Let’s Brezel was established and the search for the perfect caravan/food truck began.

Let's Brezel's mobile brezel caravan FRIEDEL used to belong to the Auckland Car Club who used her as their Admin HQ during race meets at the Pukekohe Racecourse. She changed hands after 33 years in 2014 and for the next three years sat around idle. Claudia came across her quite by chance when walking around the neighbourhood. Looking somewhat derelict and like she had been moved in a while, the owner was approached and amazingly was keen to sell. In April 2017, restoration began with the help of Claudia's son - a builder by trade. After many months of hard work and countless hours of sanding, scraping, cutting, painting etc. Friedel was transformed from ugly duckling to beautiful swan.  Boasting a bright red coat of paint and top notch fitout Friedel is ready to mingle with the food truck clan at events and markets all around Auckland but also looking forward to make your private function or party extra special with her presence.
